MS Outlook Express is one of the most powerful email client programs.
You can have multiple email accounts with Outlook Express. Setup an
email account on Outlook Express is simple. The following instructions
will guide you step by step to setup an email account (note- setting
up Microsoft Outlook is similar. You should be able to do it with the
information provided below):
Before you begin to setup an email pop account, make sure you have following
information:
- e-mail account username and password (your user name will be
your e-mail address, ie name@dialupone.net)
- email address
- POP3 server name or IP address
Yours is "mail.dialupone.net".
- SMTP server name or IP address
Yours is "mail.dialupone.net".
Lets start....
- First open the Outlook Express software, then select the "Tools"
menu then "Accounts".
- Click the "Add" button and select "Mail".
- Under "Display Name" type in your name.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Select "use an already existing email address".
- In "Email Address" type in your email address, example
- yourname@dialupone.net.
- Click the "Next" button.
Setting up the Mail Server Information:
- In "My Incoming Mail Server", select "POP3".
- Type mail.dialupone.net in the Incoming Mail POP Server.
- Type mail.dialupone.net in the Outgoing Mail SMTP Server.
- Click the "Next" button.
- User name - type in your user name (will be your e-mail address
ie yourname@dialupone.net, all small case) .
- Password - type in your email account password.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Click "finished"
- On the "Internet Accounts" box, highlight this account,
and click "Properties"
- Click on the tab at the top that says "Servers"
- Click the box at the bottom that says "My Server Requires
Authentication"
- Click the "Settings" box right beside it.
- Make sure "Use the same settings as my incoming server"
is selected.
- Click OK, OK, and Close.
OK! all done.
When you want to check for new mail messages you will need to click the Send
& Receive button on the Outlook Express Toolbar. You may want to check under
the "Tools" menu and select "Options". You can set various
options, such as, checking for messages automatically, sending automatically,
etc.
To set up additional accounts, simply repeat the steps above:
